The Sally Lightfoot Crab (Percnon gibbesi), is a sleek, fast, and relatively common crab species, found on both sides of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Similar to some shore crab species, the Sally Lightfoot Crab has a very compressed body shape, allowing them to squeeze into tight nooks and crannies in the rockwork, allowing them to be highly effective at avoiding predators. Although Sally Lightfoot crabs will primarily graze on a number of green and brown algaes, including nuisance macroalgaes like Caulerpa and Padina, these crabs are opportunistic predators and will consume any meaty foods available to them.
