Electric Blue Leg Hermit Crabs are a larger hermit crab species endemic to the Marshall Islands. These hermit crabs are beloved by many reef aquarists for their stunning black and blue striped legs and vibrant orange antennae. Similar to many other species of hermits kept as clean-up-crew, Halloween Hermits are omnivorous and will consume both a wide variety of nuisance algae as well as any uneaten meaty foods that may settle onto the sandbed or rockwork. Due to their larger size, these hermit crabs may occasionally topple over smaller or unsecured corals, causing irritation to the tissue. Additionally, these crabs may target larger snails for new shells as they grow if not provided with suitable empty shells.
