Reef Genetics Phytoplankton – Chaetoceros muelleri

 

Chaetoceros muelleri is a golden-brown diatom phytoplankton widely valued in marine aquaculture for its exceptional nutritional density and fast reproduction. Rich in essential fatty acids such as EPA, along with beneficial lipids and trace nutrients, Chaetoceros is an excellent food source for copepods, rotifers, clams, corals, and a wide variety of filter-feeding invertebrates.

Cultured in-house as part of our Reef Genetics program, this strain is harvested fresh and bottled clean to provide consistent performance for reef aquariums, refugiums, and live feed cultures.

Dosing Instructions

• Shut off return pumps, protein skimmers, and UV sterilizers for 20 minutes after feeding.
• Can be broadcast fed, drip fed, or target fed.
• Combine with frozen or powdered coral foods for enhanced nutrient delivery.

Feeds aquariums up to 20–40 gallons

Suitable for starting home algae cultures up to 10 gallons

Jumbo Phyto Bottle (32oz):

Feeds aquariums from 50–100 gallons

Suitable for starting home algae cultures up to 40 gallons

 

Warning: A sodium metasilicate medium is required to grow this microalgae. Silicate levels in the aquarium will rise when dosed.
